A festival to be experienced, both online and in person
The Linea d’Ombra Festival aims to be an open and accessible space, where films, talks and activities can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
That is why we are working on accessibility both online, via the festival’s website and digital tools, and in person, at the venues and during the events of the 31st edition.
For the 31st edition, we are working to bring the website into line with the international WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards.
But what does this mean in practice?
It means making the website easier to read, understand and use, even for those with different needs or using different devices.
Among other things, the update addresses text readability and colour contrast, page structure, navigation on smartphones and tablets, and compatibility with assistive technologies such as screen readers.
The aim is to enable more people to:
Digital accessibility is an ongoing process. If, whilst browsing, you come across a page, piece of content or feature that is difficult to use, please let us know.
Even whilst the Linea d’Ombra festival is taking place, we are working to make the festival as accessible as possible.
The venues for the 31st edition provide access facilities for people with disabilities. On the pages dedicated to the venues and individual events, you will find useful information to help you plan your visit and learn about the features of the venues.
If you have specific mobility requirements or need further information before arriving at a venue, please contact the festival staff.
This year, we have also paid particular attention to ensuring the films are accessible to all.
The subtitles for the films in the programme are optimised for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, so as to make the cinematic experience more accessible even to those who cannot fully follow the film’s audio.
It’s not just dialogue, then: where necessary, the subtitles also help convey audio information that aids understanding of the film.
If you are deaf or hard of hearing, you can attend screenings and enjoy the festival’s film programme by checking the information available on each film’s page regarding how to access the films.
Everyone may have different needs, and not all of them can be met by a standard solution.
If you have a disability, a mobility or sensory impairment, or require specific information to attend an event, please contact us before the event.
Our staff will be able to provide you with the available information on the venue, access arrangements and the services on offer and, where possible, help you find the most suitable solution.
You’ll find all the contact details in the Contact section of the website.
Accessibility is not a finished product, but an ongoing process involving spaces, tools, content and the way we engage with the public.
If, whilst browsing the website or attending the festival, you encounter a barrier that we haven’t anticipated, please let us know.
Feedback from the public also helps us to make Linea d’Ombra increasingly accessible.
