In 2001 with the success of “L’ultimo Bacio” a directorial phenomenon was born, which arrived in 2006 until Hollywood. Faced with the events of the new Italian film, “I migliori anni della nostra vita”, the Roman director and screenwriter talks with Boris Sollazzo and tells the audience of Linea d’Ombra Festival his “heroes”.
2006 is the year of Hollywood’s turning point of Muccino: first with the American remake of “The Last Kiss“, directed by Tony Goldwyn, of which Muccino is among the producers. Then with the filming of “The Pursuit Of Happiness”, with Will Smith; the American actor, also producer of the film, has chosen Muccino personally as a director after having seen and enjoyed his previous films. The success of the film opens Hollywood’s doors to the Roman director: after directing the first two episodes of the TV series “Viva Laughlin!”, he shoots his second film with Will Smith in 2008: “The Seven Souls”, a Shakespearean drama suitably built for an Oscar.
After two American films, Muccino returns to Italy to shoot “Baciami Ancora”, followed by “L’Ultimo Bacio’’ almost ten years later, and then in 2018 “A Casa Tutti Bene”.
