The festival intends to pay a small tribute to Luciano De Crescenzo, writer, director, actor, screenwriter and historian of philosophy, but to each of these definitions we could add “anomalous”. For about twenty years, manager of IBM in Milan, Luciano De Crescenzo devoted himself entirely to writing or, rather, he found in writing the way to express his world and make others participate in it. So in 1976, “Thus spoke Bellavista” was born, which achieved a resounding success. The Neapolitan philosophy finds its cantor, only apparently disenchanted, “You are always someone’s south”, but also able to mark good and evil with a clear distinction, the doubt of the question mark on the one hand, the certainty of an exclamation mark on the other. In over forty years as a writer, De Crescenzo has published about fifty volumes, selling over eighteen million copies worldwide. Next to writing, the Neapolitan author shot four films and participated, as an actor and screenwriter, in many others, including those directed by Renzo Arbore. They will be presented in this small but affectionate review because, between lights and shadows, this time, we prefer the lights of an uncommon man.
