SYNOPSIS
A puny child in appearance and from a working-class family, Paolino played soccer every day in the small oratory fields of his town, Prato. Talent became apparent and, as soon as he was 14, he was called up to play in the youth team of the great Juventus, which forced him to move alone to Turin. He ruptured his meniscus three times early in a career that was in danger of never beginning. After becoming top scorer and driving Italy crazy at the World Cup in Argentina, during which he entered everyone’s heart with the nickname Pablito, his career suffered a setback again: he was hit with charges in the ugly soccer-cheating affair. Although acquitted by the court, sports justice sentenced him to two years off the field. Soon after, however, Enzo Bearzot, who has always loved and esteemed him, unhesitatingly took him to Spain to play in that 82 World Cup that all of Italy remembers. Private footage, interviews with those who knew him intimately, a repertoire of his most extraordinary trials and testimonies of his most difficult moments, the story of Paolo Rossi (together Paolino and Pablito) is, always, pain, joy, sacrifice, triumph.
