The festival is thirty years old, not them. Opening with the best young talent in Italian cinema is a political act for Linea d’Ombra, one that affirms its identity. Because this festival was created to showcase the cinema of the future, the talents that are emerging. Linea d’Ombra has celebrated many great masters, but it has also hosted many young talents (some of whom, from Vincenzo Marra to Eran Riklis, are returning to the festival to celebrate it).

That is why we are celebrating and introducing five fabulous young people. Samuele Carrino, who moved Italy with Il ragazzo dai pantaloni rosa (The Boy in Pink Trousers); Carlotta Gamba, titanic and heart-wrenching in Dostoevskij by the D’Innocenzo brothers; Aurora Giovinazzo, discovered by Paolo Genovese in Immaturi and then loved by Ferzan Ozpetek in Nuovo Olimpo and Diamanti, who “electrified” Italy in Freaks Out; Ludovica Nasti, the explosive, restless, irresistible Lila in My Brilliant Friend; Beatrice Puccilli, the excellent teen queen in the series Adorazione, the film Una sterminata domenica (which she also wrote) and 40 secondi.
