Vincenzo Marra is one of the greatest auteurs of post-war independent Italian cinema. He has navigated Italian cinema with courage and rigour, a capacity for reinvention and, above all, an ability to explore aspects of the world, art and life that others skilfully avoid.

In these times of war and extermination, he presents a work in Salereno that was shown in Locarno. A gem that tells the story of Palestine in an original way, a film that is 20 years old but seems to have been shot yesterday. It will be one of the cornerstones of the festival, telling the story of denied rights, but also providing an opportunity to reflect on an incredible career that began with the beautiful Tornando a Casa (winner of the SIC award at Venice) and has unfolded through extraordinary fiction films and documentaries (from Estranei alla massa to L’udienza è aperta to I ponti di Sarajevo).

He competed in Venice with L’ora di punta, whose only flaw was that it was too close to reality. In recent years, he has produced gems such as La prima luce, L’equilibrio and La volta buona, works of painful power, not only cinematographic, demonstrating his talent as a director (and, thanks to him, also as an actor).
