Filiberto Menna Foundation

The Foundation is housed in “La Casa del Combattente” (or House of the Soldier), an historical building located on the seafront of Salerno (Lungomare Trieste). The building, embellished by valuable stained glass windows from Vietri, was designed by the engineer Vincenzo Taddeo following the urbanization works of the beach. Established in 1989 thanks to the Menna family, the “Filiberto Menna Foundation – Center of Study on contemporary Art” promotes many initiatives and projects designed to spread and investigate art in its present form, following the footsteps of the Salerno scholar, one of the protagonists of the critical debate in the late 20th century.
Adjacent to the Pier Paolo Pasolini hall, the location is set up ad hoc for the festival, in order to create an unique space of maximum enjoyment (equipped screening room, exhibition area, meeting place).

Minerva’s Garden

The most ancient Schola Medica Salernitana’s Botanical Garden (Hortus Sanitatis) was founded here. Restored in 2000 thanks to the Urban european project’s funds, today the Garden is one of the main tourist attractions of the city. Since 2004, it also hosts a tea-house, holding various meetings and events. It is located in the heart of the old city, in an area once called “Plaium montis”, in the middle of an ideal path that develops along the axis of the enclosed and terraced gardens rising from the municipal Villa, around the Fusandola stream, towards the Arechi Castle. On the occasion of Linea d’Ombra Festival’s 25th edition, this location becomes ideal in order to realise a mixed project of training and tourism and cultural heritage promotion of the territory. Activities will be possible thanks to a public-private partnership for the valorization of audiovisual and digital culture, in view of the upcoming nomination of the Schola Medica Salernitana as UNESCO Intangible Heritage.
